Case 07 — Medical technology & patent portfolio
Meddent Innovative Concepts: a medical-device patent portfolio published as one page that investors and licensees can read end to end
Meddent Innovative Concepts develops, patents and licenses medical devices, surgical instruments and biomaterials for the orthopedic, dental and veterinary markets. The company does not manufacture: its assets are the patents themselves, and the site has to make that portfolio legible to two audiences at once — investors weighing the opportunity and manufacturers who might license a technology. Everything sits on one page: seven development programs, eighteen patent document scans, the research partnerships behind them, the business model, the team, and a way to get in touch.
01 — Challenge
Where it started
The material is heavy in every sense. A portfolio page carries eighteen scanned patent documents, each of which has to be readable at full size, and each of which is a photograph of a printed page rather than text. The first screen opens with video. The content itself is dense: granted records across United States, German and European filings, including a design patent, sit next to long technical descriptions of what each device does. And the reader is not a passer-by — an investor or a licensing manager arrives to verify claims, so every patent number has to be checkable against the public record, not just stated.
02 — Solution
What we built
One hand-coded page, no framework and no builder: semantic sections with anchor navigation, so a reader can jump from the portfolio to the research collaborations to the investment section without a page load. Each patent document is a thumbnail that opens full size in a lightbox built for this site, and every record carries its jurisdiction, its number and a direct link to the public registry, so a claim can be verified in one click. The video in the first screen is muted, inline and paired with a poster frame, so a phone shows something immediately instead of waiting for the file. Styles and behaviour are two files served from the site itself — no external fonts, no analytics vendors, no CDN — which is why the desktop score is a flat 100 across all four Lighthouse categories and mobile stays at 90 with that video and eighteen document images in place.
